I probably sounded a little harsh in my post, but what I'm trying to say there are millions of people in shit far worse than any of us! It's not just porn people who are unwelcome in the film industry, it's anyone who hasn't got the right contacts. I saw a totally shit video last night called, "The Rig", there was no way that whoever made it didn't have all sorts of contacts to make it all happen. Why? Because it was a COMPLETE PILE OF CACK, that any of us would have been ashamed if we had made it.

We are in the Entertainment industry, an industry that thrives on nepotism. We are all guilty of it and sometimes we have no choice. Dave during those years that you had that amazing job as Production Manager at Bluebird and in a position to hire and fire, how did you give out the jobs? Did you let new people have a chance or did you play safe and give the jobs to your pals? I can't recall seeing any budding newbies, during my 1 day, never to return stint.

Unfortunately, we in porn, are the dinosaurs of the entertainment world. Computers, animation, gaming, 3D, graphic design is all moving ahead with astounding speed, whilst we still sit around scratching our heads wondering why porn is shrinking as fast as mass entertainment is expanding.

I know one thing, I have absolutely no plans for "Getting into the mainstream" if and when I leave porn. I'll have no choice but to get what I can out in the real world. Maybe I'm just being realistic. Maybe In a way I'm lucky because I realised, 6 years ago when suddenly I found myself with no work, that no one that you had employed in the past will give a flying fuck, they just turn their backs on you.

Your having a laugh aren't you Dave. I was a self employed senior cameraman/chief photographer/artistic director who had no power whatsoever to hire/fire anybody and just like everybody else there at the time and probably now I was never ever able to feel comfortable that it would last (proven right although I did last 2 years). Your return never happened because those powers that be decided your camera work wasn't up to it. I, as always had no say at all in that decision.

I think it in fact it is YOU who are "Having a go" by placing on a public forum the following statement regarding me, I quote,

Saying in effect that Bluebird thought I was incompetent.

You are pretending to be some kind of "victim", whilst calling into question my professional ability, publicly. I would never do this to anyone and I am brimming over with stories and allegations about the competence of people, but it's something you keep to yourself, at least in public.

STATEMENT OF COMPETENCE

So folks, I feel I should defend myself about this matter and state that as well as shooting, directing and editing nearly 40 TV series in different versions, (About 300 shows) for TVX all of which are scrutinised in detail by executives, EBU standard engineers and lawyers.

On behalf of an independent producer, I also shot and edited many of the hugely successful series, UK Studenthouse, one of the biggest selling DVD series ever in the UK. I single handedly shot 2 versions of these, soft and hard. I stopped shooting UKSS for a time and someone else took over until a couple of years later the producer INSISTED that I come back and shoot some more UKSS's as, "Only you can do it like we want, Jim!" I believe, all of these shows were broadcast by Playboy TV who like TVX also have extremely high technical expectations.

How on Earth have I managed to pull this off, all I can presume is that all these people that have employed my services are blind!

I will wear my alleged rejection by, "The powers that be" at Bluebird, as a talisman of good fortune, since things have been going brilliantly for me ever since that day, 5 years ago!

Jim made a point about what Im about to say...

I've noticed a fair number of people that worked for Blue Bird ended up being smug and turning their backs on the rest of the porn community they started out with until it went tits up for them

I've also noticed these same people either tried to get employment but were shunned or just kept a low profile for embarrassment.

They know who they are.

They're probably the same ones that wont rejoin certain associations because I'm part of it.

By the way I am not interested in this thread descending into a Blue Bird bashing. Some people seem to talk to me as If I hate the company. I cant hate what I don't know because I have never worked for them and nor have any desire to but I can be opinionated on what I do know where it has affected people I like over the years who are no longer around
