What troubles me is that Turks, Greeks and Asians have been mobilising to protect their communities from the scum to great rounds of applause. However, as soon as a bunch of Eastenders get together, it is automatically assumed tbat they are all racially motivated, bomber jacketed thugs. It is also assumed that all these individuals are white, in the East London they could be from all different ethnic groups. Most normal people are as fearful of the EDL as they are of the rioters.

I bet when the rioters end up being charged you will find a true melting pot of Europe's and the World's scum, not just local black kids.

Well looking at a lot of the pictures in the press today, taken outside courts, the rioters are obviously a racial mix. People who are trying to racialise these riots and in so doing take political advantage, need to be stopped.

Extremist political groups are trying to take advantage. For example, the BNP is handing out leaflets saying it will hold its biggest ever day of action this weekend and that Looters beware:British defenders protect this area. The EDL is claiming its supporters are organising across the country and will provide a "strong physical presence, and discourage troublemakers from gathering in our town and its centres". Extremists in the Asian community are trying to persuade Asians in Birmingham to retaliate after 3 lads were murdered there while just standing outside their property.

All of the above need crushing by the police.

People have the right to defend their own businesses and houses and if you happen to have a bunch of mates standing outside your house and the old age pensioner's next door, once looters try to make mischief in the absence of a police presence, then bad luck, looters. People in a street who are able bodied getting together in a show of force outside their houses/businesses and those of vulnerable neighbours are fine by me.

What is not fine is yet another bunch of morons trying to act as some local vigilante group wandering round the area to try and seek out a punch-up. This is the sort of shit that has happened in Northern Ireland for decades where you have had extremist groups moving into areas, ostensibly to defend them and then ending up causing endless grief with their drug dealing, self appointed judge and jury and general criminality.

Of course, being scum, to use Jimbo's term, is not the sole preserve of the underclass.

Investment bankers with their huge bonuses, tax avoiding corporate directors, rich kids looking for a bit of rough etc etc.

They make a lot of the estate kid looters look like Bo Peep.

Actually, i wasn't using the word "Scum" as a general reference to the so called, "Underclass". I was using it as a general term for opportunists who leapt at the opportunity to nick stuff and cause mayhem, it doesn't surprise me at all if they come from all kinds of backgrounds and countries.

Let's just hope the courts kick some ass. However, I suspect it will be the same old derisory fines and 2 days community service orders. We'll have to wait and see.

Cameron was side stepping any strong measures today on PMQ's with great skill. For example he was asked if any foreigners found rioting would be deported and he answered, "Yes, any foreigners who don't have the right to be here will be deported!"

Errm so that's a "No!" then. A lawyers answer.
