I don't see a problem with Rebekah Brooks or any other newspaper/magazine staff member staying at Champneys and then a NI paper running a promotion about the place. That happens all the time.

Film companies invite hacks on trips, ply them with food, drink and occasionally an extra pillow or two. In return, they expect favourable coverage.

However, for a senior policeman to accept ?12k of free hospitality seems not only wrong but very stupid.

I am not saying that is a problem.

What I am saying is that it shows that the links between the NOTW and Champneys were not just about an ex-deputy editor of the NOTW doing their PR. And it was Champneys ?12K freebie that helped to put Stephenson in a resigning position.
