Forumites will have noticed, Jimbo appears to believe the following:

1. The Twin Towers attack was carried out by American spooks.
2. The attack was carefully planned so that there would be an excuse to blame the Aarabs and then invade Afghanistan shortly after.
3. After 10 years of fighting in Afghanistan, the Americans decided to get out so they fabricated the death of Osama Bin Laden who had died years previously.

Please let me know Jimbo if I have got the wrong end of the stick but I have based the above on your recent posts.

I have asked Jimbo to explain the logic of the above e.g. why on earth kill thousands of your own citizens in order to have an excuse to invade one of the poorest countries in the world, Afghanistan, but unfortunately Jimbo is unwilling to reply. He equates me asking a question with "the Spanish inquisition".

As forumites know I am in the process of receiving some silver caskets from an American soldier who was involved in the attack on Osama's compound in Pakistan which are due to arrive at Johnson Towers in the near future.

I undertake to give half of all moneys arriving from Pakistan to the forumite who in the absence of Jimbo's willingness to reply to my question, comes up with the most convincing explanation as to why the Americans acted as they did in points 1, 2 and 3 above. Why invent an excuse to invade Afghanistan?

David, you are far too narrow of mind to discuss a topic with such wide implications. You will always believe the "Official" report if it is presented by New Labour, with a hard front and back and says, "Official Report", oh of course if it's issued by the Tories, you will scream, "It's all lies!" However, back to the topic. Even you must know of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbel's famous quote, "The bigger the lie the more it will be believed!"

I have spent many hours over the years looking into this subject and it is fascinating. I am not about to spend weeks arguing to and throw, with the "Grand Inquisitor" of BGAFD, who has nothing better to do than interrogate and censor all those that stand in his way. Its about logic. If you are right and American spooks took down the World Trade Centre Twin Towers, the discussion must have been on the lines of

See, that's what I mean by logic. Why go to all that bother, killing thousands of your own citizens in order to invade a country like Afghanistan which has virtually no natural resources, is one of the world's poorest and you end up eating dirt for 10 years killing more of your citizens.

1. Through a combination of hubris, carelessness, intel-static, inter-security service rivalry, and taking their eye off the ball, on the American side, and good planning and luck for the hijackers, the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon were attacked.

2. The US gave the Taliban the chance to disown Al-Qaida, but the Islamic tradition of hospitality over-rode the easy option. Apart from hitting the people responsible for the 9/11 attacks, the US had no reason to invade a country with a history of not liking being invaded. (UK 3 times, USSR once, result Afghans 4, Others 0). Besides, Afghans are not Arabs.

3. It soon became apparent that the Taliban were not so easily to be beaten, but it is always difficult to admit failure, disregard ones military dead, and cut ones losses. A new administration, without the baggage of the previous one, has realised the ultimate folly of involvement, but has a little bit of face to save. If OBL was already dead before the US said they killed him, what was to be gained by saying he was shot in the Abbottabad raid?
