I was wondering if or when New Labour come back into power how many of the measures/ cuts the Coalition are introducing now, will be reversed?
I suspect the New Labour hierachy must be secretly delighted that the Coalition is getting all the shit for doing what they probably would have had to do themselves, in spite of their rhetoric.
I wonder if even the most staunch New Labour supporter, would be brave enough to state that, "New Labour will reinstate every cut whether it be to pensions, pension age, fat cat final salaries pensions, quangos or cuts to bennys!"
I wager that New Labour will reverse NOTHING at all. Sure they'll rant and rave and promise, but ultimately do nothing. What's more is that you wont here a peep about it on here!You wont see one post of outrage or protest. There will be !tumbleweed! blowing through the O/T forum!

The Labour Party has stated that the deficit needs to come down. The difference with the Tories and Lib Dems is in the timing and depth of the cuts required to make this happen. The Tory plan is to get rid of the entire deficit in this parliament. The Labour plan was/is to get the deficit reduced by half in four years.

I may have imagined it but there are a few forumites who could be described as not in favour of the Labour party. Not only do you not appear to listen to the news over the past year, Jimbo, you do not appear to read the vast majority of posts on the forum, even ones supporting your anti-Labour rants.

We have been through this before Jimbo. The New Democracy party which is the main CENTRE-RIGHT party in Greece has been in power for about 50% of the time since the 70's. They were the government between 2004 and 2009 in Greece when the global crisis struck. They got hammered in the election and the Socialists took over. They have been in power for about 2 years.
Given that the CENTRE-RIGHT party was in power for 5 years leading up to the crash, you can hardly sensibly accuse the Socialists of being completely to blame for wasting billions or can you? As I am sure you can understand, Greece is in an impossible position. Huge debts, huge cuts enforced by the IMF e.g. 20% cuts in public sector pay and an economy that is crumbling. No wonder they need another bailout.
