People are entitled to have a different opinion to me. I am entitled to disagree with them which is what I did at the start of this thread.
End of.
So since you havent obviously got anything to say about Roger's figures in the start of this thread and you have no response to the figures I quote which trash your idea that there is a flood of asylum seekers bypassing Europe and the rest of the world to get to the land of milk and honey, no more to be said.
By me anyway.

Oh Britain- where did we go so wrong??
Re: Oh Britain- where did we go so wrong??
Actually the figure for a single asylum seeker aged 18 and over is around ?44 per week, not a great deal of money, but Infinitely better than the country they came from where the amount is likeley to be a big fat nothing.
The truth is the UK is probably the best choice for asylum seekers in the long run, because we are far more tolerant than most other countries, and provide a lot of extras as well, housing, cash support, healthcare, legal services, a much longer hearing process, once approved, an asylum seeker can apply for many other benefits legally an A/S cannot work, until thier case has been heard and approved, anyway you can read the guff here and make your own mind up

Good post.
As you suggest that for asylum seekers, Britain is the best place in the long run, one wonders why in the UN figures for 2009, so many more people claimed asylum in France than Britain, almost as many in Germany and Sweden, which has about 10% of the UK population.
Cheers
