Jimbo

"David, what on Earth has the above astute analogy got to do with George Osbourne or the Tories?"

Simple. The Tories had absolutely the same plans as Labour so the impact of the GLOBAL recession (note the word in caps) would have made no difference if the Tories had been in power. Most on this forum use the global recession as an example of how much better the Tories are. They aren't!

Yes, the Labour party put far too much reliance on the finance sector and did not control the banks. It would have been no different with the tories in power. The only difference would have been that Osborne would have shat himself.

Thank you David for reminding me that Strauss-Kahn is a Communist.
Naturally, a man of the people, a down to earth chap, one of the
proletariat, obviously needs a $3000 a night hotel suite and a First
Class air seat !!

What makes you think its an unusual French name? His parents were from Alsace-Lorraine, a department of France that only, finally, became part of France in 1918. It had changed hands between France and Germany 4 times in the previous 75 years. In addition to the German influence in his name, he is also Jewish so that might explain the Kahn part. Perhaps you would be happier if he was called Jean Pierre Lefevre or some thing similar that sounds more 'French' for you.
