World ends...not
Strangely the predictions about the end of the world at 6.00pm today (local time wherever you are, apparently)and the rapture for all the god-botherers, turned out to be wrong. Who'd have thought it? Some of these morons actually gave up their jobs and property in readiness.

Perhaps the Grim Reaper is just running a little later than anticipated?

He might have been on GMT rather than BST, but even so it doesn't look like its going to be tonight.

Yeah, the weather probably held him up!

I knew a Jehovas Witness who sold his house and his thriving fabrication business (which included the land it was situated on) in 1974 because the world would end in 1975. All the proceeds went to the JW church.
I met him by 1976 when I was an apprentice and he was reduced to taking whatever job he could find just to pay rent and feed his family. However, he knew for certain that the world would end for sure in 1984. I saw him around 1986 and he was still totally under the control of the JWs and said that the year 2000 would bring final damnation of all the sinners - 100% reliable, no question about it.
Interestingly, and quite sadly, the land on which his factory was built on 37 years ago has since been re-developed into very swanky apartments in and trendy retail shops and would have worth millions had he kept it until his retirement age.

Re: I guess October 21 2011 will be similar
"Family Radio's website is blunt in its prediction of Judgment Day and the rolling earthquake that will mark the beginning of the end, taking true believers to heaven while others are left to be consumed in the total destruction of Earth by Oct. 21. "The Bible guarantees it!" the site proclaims, under a passage from the book of Ezekiel, which says "blow the trumpet ? warn the people.""

Just checked their website -
I didn't go through it very thoroughly, but there is no obvious mention of how the world ended 2 days ago. On Saturday their front page had a big warning on it about you better get ready and pray you'll be saved.
They're still accepting donations however via PayPal, Visa, Mastercard etc. After all, it costs a lot of money to end the world you know.
