Re: Fukushima on level with Chernobyl
I know you did, and as I pointed out hardly anyone died at Chernobyl during the incident, so its not really relevant as to the eventual cost. The death rates from Chernobyl occured years/decades later.

It's the only relevant information to go on due to a wide range of guesstimates about how many deaths the Chernobyl disaster caused. WHO says 4000 and greenpeace say 200,000. No one knows.
Given that the people of Pripyat and the surrounding areas were all evacuated after it was too late and given that most of the workers who helped put out the fires and built the concrete containment casing were ignorant of the dangers, nor told, I'd say the two events of Chernobyl and Fukushima aren't comparable.

Eh? Pripyat was totally evacuated within 2 days of the explosion - there are people still living in Fukushima province now who were simply told 'not to go outside'

Very observant of you, Rodders. 'Truth' is an English word and so wouldn't be in the Japanese dictionary.
They do, however, have a Japanese equivalent: 真実
"I know you feed off ridiculing others...."
Quite!
Cheers

Bore off, David. Rodders was disrespecting a whole nation of people for some daft reason.

Exactly. Too late.
Name me any other nuclear plant over the last 60 years that's killed scores of people.
Nuclear energy is safer than oil and coal.

"Bore off".
Yet more ridicule. I feel more belittled and undermined by the minute.
Not sure if I can cope with this.
!wink!

"Exactly. Too late."
But thats a lot quicker than the Fukushima evacuation which you say will cause less damage because the people in Chernobyl were not evacuated quickly enough !confused!
"Name me any other nuclear plant over the last 60 years that's killed scores of people."
There have only been 2 level 7 accidents, Chernobyl and..........Fukushima.
