Remind me guys, was it Cameron, only a few weeks ago, who was poring shite from a height onto the decision to release al-Megrahi from a Scottish gaol so he could die in Libya?
And now we appear to have the unlikely named, Moussa Koussa, the Libyan Foreign Minister, allowed to land on British soil. It's yet to be seen whether he will be allowed to live in a nice semi in Richmond or whatever but a perusal of this guy's track record is worth doing.
Having advocated the killing of Libyan dissidents on British soil in an interview for the Times newspaper as Libyan ambassador in London, and having professed admiration for IRA militants fighting the British state, he was expelled friom the UK in 1980.
According to an article in the Observer newspaper, a confidential profile prepared by British intelligence in December 1995 described him as the head of the "principal intelligence institution in Libya, which has been responsible for supporting terrorist organisations and for perpetrating state sponsored acts of terrorism including the Lockerbie bombing"
Nice chap. I imagine the families of those who died at Lockerbie wouldn't mind a chat with him, in private.

Perhaps you should tell forumites if every post that is critical of the current government, MUST start with a summary of every previous government, let's say since 1900, that had done the wrong thing in those circumstances.

As any sane person knows, al-Megrahi wasn't the Lockerbie bomber, and Libya had little or nothing to do with it... the evidence (most of which was ignored during the original trial) points toward Iran and Syria being the main conspirators. All Moussa Koussa can possibly say is "we didn't do it".

You are correct DJ, he's a wrong'un and no mistake, it's akin to inviting Himmler over for a wee chat about Adolf 'personal habits' he should be on trial for the alleged murder of his own people, he's a cunt, I can only assume we need information from him,so let's get that then put him in prison, or even better hand him over to the Libyan rebels, I'm sure they would be delighted to see him, the whole thing stinks.

I know that Hague stated this morning that Moussa had not been granted any immunity from prosecution, but.......
Why on earth would a guy like that with his history come to the UK of all places? If he wanted to get away from Gaddafi why not go pretty well anywhere else where he didn't have the expulsion from the London embassy and the Lockerbie implication hanging over him?
Why not Germany for example, which is against the allied involvement in Libya?
I guess I am wondering if some dirty little undercover deal has been done.

The point is the obvious inconsistency in this government's approach - one minute pouring vitriol on the previous government over al Megrahi's release and then welcoming his boss, the next.
Just before Jim leaps in, I may as well say, inconsistency that is not unknown in previous UK governments' dealings with Libya, including one, Anthony Blair.
