If you wondering WHY we are probably going to have help to bail out Portugal to the tune of ?6bn, watch and weep!
Cue David Johnson's reply,
"Listen, my followers, DO NOT LISTEN, he weaves a web of lies, he is a Tory SECRET AGENT can't you see he wears A SUIT and not a FLAT CAP? He must be a TORY!!
Now all of you, TRY AND THINK CLEARLY!
Can't you all see that if the EVIL Tories had been in power at the time, they would have signed up to bail out EVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, I know this because I JUST THOUGHT IT UP! So count yourself lucky, because thanks to the brilliant insight and bottomless wisdom of our GREAT LEADERS IN WAITING, we only have to bail out Portugal and then errrm possibly Spain and then and only very, very possibly, maybe Hungary..... GOD SAVE NEW LABOUR FOR SAVING US FROM BAILING OUT EVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD..........!"

Jimbo, I agree with you....
Well not really. However, the way the economy is going we could probably do with a bailout ourselves in a year or two. We do appear to be getting the look of Ireland mark 2. Praised by the IMF etc. Alas, growth downgraded. Unemployment up. Inflation up. Government debt increasing. Consumer confidence on the floor.
As for the Portugal bailout Jimbo, just think of it in terms of the cost of 3 or 4 cruise missiles currently landing on Libya as our share.
Mind you there is some truth in what you say about New Labour being responsible for everything. I never had piles until Gordon Brown became Prime Minister. Some may say coincidence. Others know the real truth!
PS. Since you clearly haven't got over the disappointment of not being able to rip off the taxpayer by trousering a council flat off Labour and flogging it at a huge profit, got any stunning wheezes for your next attempt to rip us all off?
By the way, why are you so terrified of entering into debate with people like myself, Andy, Bob, number 6, Ravis etc. etc when they make comments that disagree with your views? You never reply. It's a forum, Jim. Give it a go.
!wink!
Cheers

It makes one very angry, I saw on TV last night that childrens centre's around Britain are closing because of massive cuts, and the billions being paid to Portugal (if what that news clip says is correct) could have saved them and many other things in Britain aswell.

Hi
First, as far as I am aware no one has as yet bailed out Portugal so the stories are a bit previous.
Second, most countries in the world are members of the IMF which lends money to countries in difficulties, thereby acting as a kind of "big insurance scheme" with very stringent conditions attached to loans.
Third, what Darling signed up to was an insurance scheme along with a whole host of other countries which would only result in us losing money if a EU country subject to a bailout, defaulted.
Fourth, any loans that countries receive as part of a bailout are subject to extremely strict conditions.
Fifth, we are not part of a much bigger Euro stabilisation plan where most of the money for bailouts will come from.
Sixth, the way the UK economy is being tanked by Osborne's measures we could need a bailout ourselves at this rate so it mighnt be a good idea to be incredibly hostile at this point.

I don't understand why it's the UKs' responsibility to dish out spare money it doesn't have. Perhaps some people could be worried that letting these 'sick men of Europe' just find their own way out might cause a repeat of 1930's Germany. The problem is, when all of Europe is bankrupt through pouring money into black holes, you're likely to have that problem anyway - only far bigger. I wonder who the whipping boy will be then?
What a depressing twat I am.

It pisses me off that the coalition government are taking all of this stick due to the financial downturn and labours profligacy in government.labour always do this, they bloat the public sector by 2million on the back of the financial upturn in the last 15 years promise everyone a job (full employment) say they have put an end to boom and bust, spend and borrow and promise increased spending on everything, and when it goes tits up blame everyone else.blame the bankers solely not joe public with his 5 credit cards maxed out, new car, second investment property and oh sorry their vote.

Probably the most sensible and honest post on here for a long time.
