Staggering fact of the week

Post by David Johnson »

Apparently, in the Blackpool Primary Care Trust area, during 2009/10 there were 133,000 prescriptions of anti-depressants per 100,000 of the population!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/ ... nt-capital

What the figures don't explain is how many prescriptions were made for each person. However, if you assume that at the very least each prescription would be for an average of 1 month's supply then that makes about 11,000 per 100,000 are on anti-depressants. It could potentially be more people if doctors prescribe say, 2 months at a time.

Talk about dosing the population up. Jesus!

Cheers

You'd be depressed in Blackpool, absolute hole of a town.

As someone who gets about a bit working in different towns, I can say that Blackpool is Venice compared to Slough, Stevenage and Coventry, for example.
