Never mind. Looks like Blackpool might be relegated as well at this rate.

It's making out to be a baaaad year.

Very hit and miss, some stunning tracks but a lot of filler, similar to Radiohead post OK Computer.

At their best I thought they were amazing.

What I really liked about them was that when they started out as a couple of young white kids from Detroit, even then they had an amazing sense of the history of music. So in a set they would play a Son House or Leadbelly cover, then something like the Dolly Parton classic Jolene and at other times they would sound like Led Zeppelin. And it all had a kind of White Stripes spin to it so it didn't sound out of place.

Definitely one of the best groups of the last decade in my book.

Check out their `Under Blackpool Lights` dvd to see their prowess as a live act. Have to say that was one concert I'd have loved to have been at.

Yeah, I do believe it was held in that Victorian pleasure palace, the Tower Ballroom, one of the wonders of its age, which would have given the concert an extra special feel.

The White Stripes always struck me as rather odd, they claimed to be brother and sister but weren't, and I recall that when the guy got married it was a rather strange affair. Didn't he and his missus sit in canoes in the middle of a lake (or something) for the ceremony?

Rock stars often have strange weddings, I seem to recall Gavin Rosdale from Bush, who married that woman from No Doubt, brought his pet dog to the wedding and he, her, and their canine friend, all stood at the alter together. Rock stars, hey?
