General Deitrich von Cholitz admitted his involvement in exterminating Jews in Russia. On the other hand, as military governor of Paris, he did not act on Hitler's orders to raze Paris to the ground before leaving the city.
Some people do terrible things as well as positive things as part of their career.

I don't applaud his opinion,im saying it shows how far the current tory/libdem govt are prepared to go in breaking up the NHS that even ex tory cabinet ministers are shocked.

Nonsense. An objective fact based on a human reaction/subjective opinion.
Lansley has made a commitment to squeeze up to ?20bn in efficiency gains out of the ?100bn NHS budget: 4% a year for four years. Dorrell has stated that no healthcare system in the world, has achieved such progress.
The Commons Health Committee which Dorrell chairs stated
The health secretary's plans to hand over to GPs the commissioning of some ?70bn to ?80bn of NHS care while creating a new commissioning board and regulator involve "significant institutional upheaval" that has created "widespread uncertainty" while damaging managerial morale, the Commons health select committee says.
As a result, the risks of "an already high-risk strategy" for making efficiency savings have risen, the committee says in today's report, adding that the uncertainties have added to the costs of transition to the new system.
With large sums to be spent on that, the committee says it "does not believe" that the approach adopted "represents the most efficient way" of delivering the NHS's objectives.
In short, maybe Dorrell thinks that setting up the NHS to fail is the wrong way to go?
And who could blame him.

So, inherent in your belief is the following:
1. If you disagree with an individual like Stephen Dorrell at one point, you must always disagree with that individual, otherwise you are purely doing it for your own convenience.
2. No human being, who makes a mistake at any time such as Stephen Dorrell, can ever be correct.
Not your most logical of posts, I suspect.

Okay, the scenario where someone thinks a politican is doing a horrendous job and then 13 years later said politician states something they may agree with, appears to be beyond your understanding unless there is a totally ulterior motive.

One last passing comment to you on this thread (read the opening post to remind yourself as to what the thread is about, if you need to) - What is far more important is that the British Medical Association (that represents the GPs who are getting the dosh), the Patients Association, the Royal College of Nursing, all the trade unions representing the remainder of the workers in the NHS, the last person to be Tory Health Minister, all believe that this is not the way to proceed with the NHS.
The private healthcare companies are absolutely ecstatic.
Go figure?
