The enforcers of the law, namely the police, should not be subject to the law. Otherwise, how would they ever be able to enforce it properly?

I can remember when I was a nipper in the old East End. Jellied eels, luvverly jubbly, plenty of Jeremy Hunt, the police used to sort a punch-up out by just laying into the offenders. No point bothering with an arrest. They mightn't have got a conviction. What's the point of that?

When God allows a plague to occur or an earthquake killing thousands. Do we bring God before the court of the land?

No we do not. We assume, Liz, that HE is working in mysterious ways. Its the same with Chief Constables.
