I'm talking about from being born, what is the first piece of music you can recall hearing, I was asked this last night and am still trying to think about it.

Yep, it's a difficult one, I was going to say Lynn Anderson, Rose Garden, but that doesn't fit in with the year of my memories, although it does seem particularly clear to me!
(unless it was a teacher covering for another, that could explain it)

I think for me it was the theme tune to "Watch With Mother" on the BBC.
That would be when there was only one BBC channel, and I would have been watching, Andy Pandy, Bill and Ben and the Wooden Tops.
That ages me doesn't it?
I'd like to say it was the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, but I really think it was "Watch With Mother".
Bill and Ben, Bill and Ben, Bill and Ben, Bill and Ben, Flower Pot Men, Flower Pot Men, Flower Pot Men, Bill and Ben, Bill and Ben Flower Pot Men.
They don't write lyrics like that any more.

When I played this on youtube just now I had a shiver down my spine.
I think it must have been 45 years ago I last heard this music.

Probably christmas carol music. Silent night and stuff...
'Happy Birthday' and nursery rhymes would predate that, but thats more singing as opposed to actual memory of instruments playing music.

Warpaint-Brook Brothers 1961 on a reel to reel tape good thread Lizard!
Re: First piece of Music you can remember..
Discounting Xmas carols, nursery rhymes and the like, it would probably be the theme from "Thunderbirds".
I also recall hearing a lot of Petula Clark, Lulu, Beatles and that song "Elusive Butterfly" played regularly on the radio (this would be the late '60s).
