I should have bet some money! Russia are the only country with an enough access to "Black" money to be able to bribe the right number of FIFA officials to get the result they needed. That's why Putin suddenly became all coy, he is not a man to back away from a fight, he already knew.
After all what would you do? A numbered Swiss bank account with $500,000 put in it just for putting a cross against one country as opposed to another. Why else do you get yourself into FIFA, but for the perks of the job. It's like becoming an MP or Euro MP, it's all a money making lark!

Re: World Cup 2018
Surprise, surprise...Russia wins! Mind you, I don't mind Russia getting it that much. They've never had it before and this IS the World Cup. Ok, they bribed Fifa with the biggest amount of dosh but that's not the Russian fans' fault. Let them enjoy it.
Now, with Spain hosting it in '82 I'd have been more pissed at them getting it again (though it would have been good for Portugal).
And anyway, could you really eat comfortably at a sushi bar ever again if you're part of a committee that took Russian money and then mugged them off? Putin didn't even have to turn up....they know the score.

Re: World Cup 2018
What do Russia and Qatar have in common? Hint: it's not democracy and a free press. FIFA is one of the most corrupt and secretive organisations in the world, they must feel so at home dealing with those two countries. Sour grapes? You bet! Fuck em all.

Those darn Ruskies...
Re: World Cup 2018
A lot of people would have a job finding Qatar on the map.
Re: World Cup 2018
Are Qatar building indoor stadiums? Can't imagine too many wanting to play in the average 41c heat. Still, that won't matter to Septic Bladder, just as long as his England/English hating gets a result.
We have need of you again, great king.
Re: World Cup 2018
Well, this will be a big event undoubtedly and of course England will WIN!!!! The final will be with Holland.

It will be interesting to know how much this failed bid has cost the British taxpayer.
Re: World Cup 2018
We lost, get over it.
We would have heard nothing but the World Cup preparations for the next 8 years & the role Beckham would play in the organisation.
I hope we see & hear no more of Beckham.
