Robert Plant and the Band of Joy

Post by David Johnson »

Nashville inspired, rootsy, bluesy music.
And with the London Oriana choir for the finale.

Great music, brilliantly played.

God Bless the BBC.

Where did I put that whisky bottle!

Cheers

On BBC2 TV 6th Nov methinks. Not totally taken with some of the new stuff and couldn't get my head round the Alison Krauss stuff, just not heavy enough for my liking.

Each to his own, Arginald.

One of the things I admire about Plant is that he could have settled for the Led Zeppelin reunion and made squillions touring the world playing Communication Breakdown and Stairway to Heaven. Instead he opted to do his thing which was to experiment with different bands and styles of music. Some of it good, some of it not so good.

What no-one can accuse Plant of doing is chugging along with the music he played 40 years ago in order to keep his bank balance in the stratosphere.

Cheers

Valid point but straying too far from your roots can alienate long term fans....

What is great, as you say is the complete lack of Page, Plant and Jones cow towing to the industry and destroying their legend.
