I always knew he was living in exile in France and could not return to the USA. When I first saw the film 'Frantic' with Harrison Ford, which Polanski directed, I remember hearing about it all then. This thing (the underage girl issue) has followed Polanski around for over 30 years and everyone he knows and everyone he will ever meet knows about it. You could say, with reference to Ted Kennedy, that this was 'his Chappaquiddick'. He seemed very relaxed in interviews and when arriving at award shows for a man who everyone around him knows got it on with a 13 year old girl. He was 44 years old at the time he slept with the girl! This is bad, and it makes him a bad person. He has always seemed very cool about it all.

The fact hes admitted to it and worked with many big stars inbetween suggests to me that this was not a mere stroy of him just facying and seducing a 13 year old

But yeah its still wrong anyway. You're right it has followed him around and limited his options with regards working but not stilted his career that much when you consider The Pianist was a damn fine film and I didnt rate The Ninth Gate at all.

Didnt he direct the a movie with that bloke (Keys from ET) Bitter Moon I think, where a woman walked in front of him lying on the sofa and cocked her leg up on the tv and just pissed to get his attention!? Yes this was in the Haymarket Cinema I saw that.

I remember getting a bit hot under the collar too. Good job the rest of the movie was engaging or I might have got in trouble

No case?

Just to bring you up to date, the case ended thirty-two years ago. Polanski pleaded guilty.

That was Emmanuelle Seigner, he is married to her, and she is very attractive, I have seen bitter moon many times, peter coyote, and hugh grant also star in it, I enjoyed the film, but do not remember a scene where anyone cocked thier leg up and pissed Terry, I think you must have rolled a strong one.

"The victim says she won't press charges, no case then."

Truly a classic comment from the much-misinformed Reggie Perrin (no case he says, 32 years after the case).
