I'm confused ?! How do the R18 ratings apply to internet porn?
Can you make porn in the uk and sell it on a website without needing an R18 classifiaction, or can you only do that if the server is outside the uk ??
what if you shoot a porno in the uk and make a dvd and want to sell it in the US?
from doing a search on here it seems like a nightmare, but a lot of producers seem to be doing it.
I don't get the R18 classification

I think we could be in for quite a discussion here.
Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?
Re: I don't get the R18 classification
lol. how do you see how many posts someone has?
I've been doing searches and it seems like a minefield. And yes I am thinking about making my first porno so am looking into how I go about selling it. Don't worry though as the genre I want to do does'nt even exist, which is very strange, I've searched the internet and have not found one site or film dedicated to what I'm into (which it perfectly normal btw) so i fancy having a go at filling that void, maybe its a void for a reason but hey.

Re: I don't get the R18 classification
Is it perfectly legal?
I ask because it sounds like something that may not make it past R18 which usually means something outside of what is legally acceptable in the UK and I would be very careful.
If you odnt know what the legal limits are regarding R18 then maybe you should check out the www.bbfc.co.uk website.
Also do a check up on extreme porn as well. Not only is it illegal to make things under that category but it is also illegal to own it and distribute it and comes with a penalty of 3 years imprisonment.

Everyone always say they are doing something different and never done before but yet how would you know that if you dont even know what is legally allowed? I would assume you dont know everything thta is out there and if its not in a search engine it doesnt mean its not been done...Or maybe you dont know the term used for that niche.

Re: I don't get the R18 classification
yup it's legal , I do it all the time with my girlfreind, it is just part of making love, but strangely you don't see much of it in dvds or the internet, and i would certainly like to watch a whole movie of sensual lovemaking like I do in private, but it seems everyone wants to watch fucking ....nevermind.
I would tell you all what it is but I'm afraid you'd all rush out and make a movie and beat me to it. Maybe their is'nt a market for it though.
I think this answers my original post (from melonfarmers) :
Is it legal to publish hardcore on the Internet?
There is now a unified approach to all media amongst the enforcement agencies, eg police, CPS, Customs, Trading Standards etc. The BBFC R18 guidelines are used to define what is legal to publish over the Internet. So now it is perfectly legal to publish hardcore in the UK. And in fact UK publishers can legally provide streaming or downloadable video without the need for a sex shop licence.
However the Obscene Publications Act still applies to internet publishing. It is currently considered illegal to publish extreme pornography such as scat, bestiality, fisting and pissing. Theoretically it is up to a jury whether such material is actually considered obscene, but in reality, the prosecutors have stitched up the law to maintain their view of what they consider obscene.
it seems ridiculous to me that you have to have an R18 rating costing ?1000 to sell a movie in a sexshop, but you can just host a download on a website no problem as long as it is within their guidelines.
Also what happens if you want to make a dvd and distribute it though an American online mailorder dvd website?? How does that work with regards the law in the uk???
thanks

Massage? Blowing in each others ear? Tickling toes? Discussing the erotic writings of Anais Nin?
