Can't you ever say "oops, my mistake", and leave it at that?
Yes, sure I can. Haven't I just thanked you 'twice' in my previous post? The mistake I made was not putting 'lord' in front of 'mayor' when expressing my ignorance about Leeds/Manchester Lord Mayors. Incase you missed it, i'll say it again: Thank you, Steve.

I just expressed my view that, while thanking you for pointing out my slip-up, it has made no difference to my original point (why should I care who's Mayor/Lord Mayor of a city nearly 300 miles away?)

If you think that because I didn't put 'lord' in front of 'mayor', it undermines my point about not giving a shit about the London mayorship, then please enlighten me because I'm obviously oblivious to it.

As for my 'old man'...if you knew him then I doubt you'd be of that opinion. We're polar opposites about just about everything. I don't know what he has to do with this tbh... If you happen to know more of my family members then at least have the politeness to tell me. It's not nice to keep secrets and use them as ammunition in our little debates on here....i'm sure you'll agree, no?

Now, if my 'old man' was running for the mayorship of London, your pedantry may have not been in vain; alas, he isn't and yours was. !happy!

Lol....that shut me right up that did, Steve.

They do say the drowning man will cling to a straw in the water.... well that was your straw and I'm not cruel enough to whip it away from you so it's yours.

Well done Steve!
