I remmeber Liverpool's CEO Rick Parry saying last year, ahead of the Champions League final that "our fans will be in Athens,by 'hook or crook' ".What sort of message was that sending out to the fans. How big should stadia exactly be to accomadate Liverpool supporters?

I too find it stupid and ludicrous that fathers and uncle's are telling their sons and nephew's stories of the 'Old days' of Liverpool where they used to get in to grounds for free, just as much as the older Chelsea fans telling stories to their offsprings on how they used to wreak havoc wherever they travelled every Saturday during the dark days of the 1980's.

Clubs should take more responsibility as well as the Police,or we definetley WILL be facing another Hillsborough/Heysell sooner, rather than later.

If you read the papers back then, you'd know that the ticket alocated was pretty lame, hence why a load of fans went over there hoping too get some tickets outside the stadium. And the attendance at Heysel was poor for a Cup Final match. Most sane people agreed it should not of even taken place there.

Agreed MegaTon.Heysell Stadium was falling apart, and had no segragation or proper turnstiles, which any idiot would be able to 'bunk in' without breaking sweat.

Hillsborough was down to the government,in all their wisdom to order that wired fencing would be set up at all football grounds,to combat the hooligan problem that was there for all to see.Caging genuine fans like animals, rather than dealing with the matter in hand of actually arresting and banning the real hooligans.South Yorkshire Police also did'nt help at Hillsborough, neither did The Sun newspaper, with their vicious lies about the disaster,to which exactly 19 years on, 'die hard' Liverpudlians still boycott The Sun.

As I stated in a thread on these forums after last years Champions Lge Final then Liverpool Football Club contributed to the fiasco in Athens.

The club provided charter flights to and from Athens but did not make it a requirement that you had to have already purchased a match ticket. It was estimated that up to 7,000 ticketless supporters travelled on these club approved flights therefore Liverpool FC effectively dumped 7,000 ticketless fans in Athens and even an idiot can see that added greatly to the problem.

That doesn't excuse the shambolic organisation by Uefa, nor does it the attitude of the supporters getting in without tickets.
