Shouldn't you be playing chess with Max von Sydow?

The Police-5 geezer who warned us to keep yer eyes peeled?
I remember reading he was mates with a Mr Big in Birmingham in the 70's and as a result, the word went out to villains that Shaw Taylor was OFF-LIMITS to anyone who had a grudge with this coppers nark.
Apparently, in those days, villains in the Midlands loved to watch Police-5 to see if they were on it........back then, it was different.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt

Very sad. I often used to work on Police 5 back in the late 70s early 80s and Shaw was always a gent to work with. The lunches were legendary. We'd spend the morning filming and the afternoon in the best restaurant local to the location. And that was in the days when a crew was a crew; 2 on camera, 2 on sound, a spark, driver, researcher, PA, runner, director, producer. I dont know what was so wrong with television that they had to go change it. After a break of 10 years I shot for the show again and the crew was me on my own, and I was lucky if I got a bacon sarnie in the police canteen.

RIP Shaw.

Did Police Five ever lead to any criminal prosecutions taking place?

Sad news....one of my first TV memories is watching "Police 5"

He always seemed like a pretty top fella. Certainly not a person who ever seemed to take him self too seriously. Seen him do many a send up of him self and the show over the years.

Wasn't he some what of a lathario as well? Im sure I read some where a few years ago that he was a bit of a mad shagger. There was some talk of the residents near his home complaining about orgies going on. If memory serves me right

R.I.P Shaw

Cheers
