"Poverty".

Post by Trumpton »

Here in the UK at the start of the 21st century the concept of "poverty" is confined to the discussions of politically correct sociology lecturers. The fact is "poverty", the state of being financially poor, is a complete myth!

We are fortunate to have a generous, some argue too generous, benefit and welfare provision system - which has for the past six decades given those in pecuniary deficiency sufficient financial resources to prevent abject need.

The allegations of "poverty" pontificated by Marxist motivated politicians are totally fallacious because "poverty" as constituted by modern day standards are a), self-inflicted and b), a lifestyle choice!

I left the monastery because of this.
When they said I had to take a vow of poverty, I didn't think it meant I
had to be POOR.

Tch. Fucking Cistercians.
I should have gone to Buckfast, where at least they produce the Curse of
Scotland...

I get the impression someone's been drinking Buckie tonight, JJ, or Adolf's Amber Enema---and I don't mean you.

Didn't realise the Daily Mail was giving away DIY frontal lobotomy kits this week. Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, 1000 year reich, what poor people?

Jesus wept!

But the qualifier 'relative' should always be used.
The wealth-gap here needs to be urgently addressed, in an EFFECTIVE
way.

Ah yes, I was waiting for the allegations of "child poverty" to be made. People who live on limited fixed incomes have a choice, they can choose to have children, or choose not to have children. If their choice is to have children then the state, via the taxpayers, has at is disposal a vast amount of money to give to the parents to spend on their children. Whether that state money is actually spent on the children is a matter of conjecture, and it's interesting to note that there are no actual government figures to ascertain if state money, in the form of child benefit, is actually benefiting the recipients.

Poverty comes in many shapes & sizes and anyone that intentionally chooses to stay trapped in the welfare system is most likely mentally Ill and doesn't know it IMHO

I've always thought that Education should be free for who ever wants to use it.Lack of education invariably means poverty

You give someone an education and they pay the state back when they start earning REAL money

Bring back the coupon system instead of money

That would be a real incentive to get off welfare
