Do you lot ask for a QUARTER of Cinammon Balls or '125g please, kind sir'??

Half a pun' ah Soor Plooms or '250.4g'?

A hectare of cakes or 350 square metres worth?

An industrial silo full of new kecks or 3-trillion cubic cm??

Yet so many posts suggest the opposite...dare you be suggesting that their optimism is at the very least unfounded, or even part of a hyping conspiracy? Never, sir, never! The kilogram WILL dominate the USA, and make no mistake."

I don't think so. There was a move to metricate in the late 60's, but by the early 80's it had fizzled out. There were a few road signs in both miles and km's, but as they are replaced it is just with mile signs. The metric system is legal to use in the USA, it's just that there, as here, people prefer to use their customary measurements. Unlike here though, in the USA local council nazis don't arrest shopkeepers for daring to sell a pound of 'nanas.
