How can you say derby were not the best team in the playoffs? It would have been robbery if they has not gone up with the amount of points ahead of the rest they were. Chelsea too scored the most fa cup goals and although they didnt play well in the final, milan did thrash united and had the best player in the tournament in kaka.

Easily because I don't think they were. Best team in the league -compared to the other play-off teams- yes, but not the best team in the playoffs.

I was only talking about the final.

Agreed about Kaka, but I'm unsure about the relevance of this statement regarding thrashing Man Utd, when I tipped Liverpool to win the final. Nothing to do with Man Utd.

To right Ace

The Premiership needs some clubs from outside of London & the North

Although as Jim Smith pointed out when we were last in the premiership, all we will ever be is a club that trains tomorrows Man U,Chelsea,Liverpool & Arsenals future squad members

Who could forget Man U buying Louis Saha at the peak of his powers mid-season from a rampaging Fulham not that long ago

cheers

Hats off to Derby for reaching the promised land and well done to Billy Davies (though he might be off) for getting them that pot of gold and adulation ahead of schedule - to think they finished 20th in the Championship just last year.
I actually think that at least two of the teams that won promotion this year will remain in the Premiership at the end of the term as a few Premiership sides seem to be in turmoil right now and might go into freefall at any stage of the season.
Bad luck to WBA who seemed to be the team in form in the run up to the playoffs - not a good day to fire (rare) blanks, but I think in Tony Mowbray they have the man to have them bounce straight back quickly.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

The Canaries had their shot at the big time if I remember correctly back in 1993 or there abouts, straight after their promotion from div 1/Championship

Finished 2nd from memory

Must rank up there as the best finish of any newly promoted team by a mile
in the modern era

cheers

Spot on

So reading bewteen the lines,Birmingham to merge with Aston Villa to stay up...lol

Sunderland finished top of the championship not that long ago and went down before christmas while West ham who won through by the skin of their ball sack finished mid table the next year

I'll agree there are some wobbly premiership sides and only time will tell
wether they can regroup

All I ask is that the management at Newcastle,Man City,Aston Villa etc aim for the relegation zone so their long suffering fans can win some silverware, all be it in the Championship in the next year...lol

cheers

Nottingham Forest came up and won the Championship didn't they? That would be 78/79 I think. Does that qualify as 'modern era' or were you thinking more recent than that ?

yeah, a great atmosphere here last night. had a darts match, not used to so many people being in the pub on a tuesday night. got a glimpse of the victory parade as it passed the pub, good to see so many smiling faces around the city.
