I beg to differ though I ain't taking the blame from the student. From our background the black male makes the difference in a child's life and especially for the young black male children. Look in our schools over here in the states. We have mostly women teachers BECAUSE they are not actively recruiting male black teachers and where I come from seeing a female teacher verses a male teacher makes a difference in the way a child acts.

Well I've had the pleasure of speaking to some boys in a school (4th, 5th and 6th graders) and believe me I got a different reaction from those boys than the female teacher did. With that said this is not all female teachers but when she started talking to them and she was forceful, they more or less played like they ignored her though she was saying the same things I was saying. What I'm saying is men have a way with dealing with students and especially with the boys than women. As far as you touching students I think you might be on the verge talking about corporal punishment. When they took that out of schools, they went haywire. Black students need more black men in schools. When they see more black men they get inspired because they see they can be something in life.

I remember speaking to a bunch of my black friends and we all joked about the beatings we got when we were kids and you know what? Everybody agreed they got a whooping fair and sqaure because we were young lil bad asses who deserved to get whooped.

I agree with you to a point, corporal punishment. When we were in school, and yes it was a different time, we were scared to get the paddle or the ruler. Of course, we had parents that taught us well. These days, yes the parents or even black parents want to fight the teachers so we definitely are in a different time. With children that young there ain't no way in the world and coming from a black perspective should the police be involved in handling a 5yr old in such a manner no matter how rowdy they act. Every teacher complains about getting sued or some other stuff but how are you supposed to take the student to the principal? I wouldn't drag them but I'd most certainly get them to the office without calling the police.

Are you kidding?! While I'm not a teacher I've heard about what teachers have to deal with and black people deal with drastic measures when they don't think enough of what to do. In other words, they just throw their hands in the air. If you know what causes the problems of the innner city youth you'll be able to know how to handle them when problems arise and be sensitive to their needs. I'm paraphrasing what a former school official, who is a women by the way, said.

Teachers are allowed to use reasonable force without resorting to corporal punishment according to this article.

This whole point is bollocks! If you think putting a child in care will improve a childs behavior then as a teacher you are seriously out of touch with your students.

How the hell does divorce or bereavement even come into the same league as drug addiction as far as being a capable parent is concerned? Yes the child affected by it, but he/she is far better off with a loving parent than in care trust me on this.
