Google has for the past couple of years been tinkering with their algorithm quite frequently and it's not un-common to get caught up in the changes and drop a bit without doing anything.

They are trying to penalise those that use "black hat" optimisation and sometimes the innocent get caught up in it. If you think back a year or so ago BWM got caught (which is why they now link to any site that they find!!!).

You can also get penalised if someone links to you but does not use the www bit!!!

So even though you haven't changes a thing it can happen.
