Football Trouble.
Well it was Man United Last night, now spurs tonight. Certainly not giving English Football a good name. As a United supporter it was hard watching that last night especially as my brother was there. Luckily he was ok well away from the main trouble. But how the fuck can the Italian police get away with that, if that fuckin happened in England we would be banned. For too long now we have took shit from UEFA, the so called governing body. I dont condone football violence but i can see why it happens. We are treated like shit, so we fight back. By all accounts the tottenham game really kicked off tonight, ive been working so ive not see any footage yet.

Re: Football Trouble.
To be honest I've not seen the Spurs stuff. Saw the Man Utd fans taking a beating though. Old, young, male female, they didn't give a fuck. The police were just looking for the slightest opportunity and banging on a perspex sheet was the ideal situation for Italian police to crack a few English skulls.
With all the shit involved around Italian football -and nothing being done- I doubt UEFA will do anything at all................unless it's against the British.
Corruption, violence and racism is rife in continental football with the Italians being the main culprits. It stinks and because some divvy Utd fans threw bottles in retaliation I just see UEFA fining both clubs for the bottle throwing and giving the excuse that Italian policing isn't within their jurisdiction.
Most travelling fans know better in Europe but there are still a few naive supporters who get too close to the police line and get bopped. A couple of English supporters were stabbed on the way to the ground too. Shameful.
We've moved on in so many ways, it's a pity the rest of Europe hasn't, and while UEFA don't act, they'll never move on.
Italian football stinks pigs piss.......but they won the world cup so maybe it's the way forward?

Re: Football Trouble.
well, the Italian police can't be blamed for nipping it in the bud, particually as one of their own was killed by supporters a couple of months ago.
Still, a bit OTT for me, but why do fans feel the need to charge opposing fans in an away game? I'd just sit the fuck down and watch the match.

Re: Football Trouble.
I watched a rern of the spurs game, at 1am. They didnt show fuck all of the violence, all you got was the commentator referring to some ugly trouble in the spurs end.

There was nothing to nip in the bud really. Roma fans charged a perspex sheet and started banging on in. Some Man U fans responded with the same.
Nipping it in the bud would be forming a 10 yard 'no-go' area on both sides of the fence, not cracking skulls with batons.
You're right though, they should have ignored the taunting.............but that's football fans all over the world for ya. Taunting and banter are part of the game. Scull cracking isn't..........or shouldn't be.
and where people can not take their families for fear of the idiots who like violence.
More families go to football matches in England, these days, than at any time in the past.
Europe is different. Especially Italy.

Nipping it in the bud is one thing but nearly beating whoever stood in their way sensless with a rubber truncheon is another.
In my opinion the Italian police behaved no better than the two sets of supporters but nothing will be done about that.

Re: Football Trouble.
Well Sam, as we weren't there to see it for ourselves, we can only speculate from the TV images, but as I stated in my post, an Italian policeman was killed with a home made bomb whilst policing a game in Italy a few weeks back. As the English have a proven violence record when travelling abroad to watch their team, particually Manchester Uniteds' record, I'm sure the Italian Police were prepared to let nothing get out of hand, hence a good shoeing.
You CAN be assured that every Italian establishment in Manchester will be closed on the return game at Old Trafford, and their insurance premiums will go up after claims of broken windows.
