The BBFC Deserves Some Praise

Any regular reader will know how much critisism I throw at the BBFC but credit where credit is due, they have passed 'Pretty Baby' uncut at 18. A very brave decision in this day and age.

The film if you don't know about it concerns child prostitution and has a naked 12 year old Brooke Shields in it.

I was really happy they passed Shortbus as 18 as well. Proper hardcore gay sex, cumshots, loads of straight and bi nudity and action. Fucking amazing.

Perhaps you could work full-time and then we could see a couple of Jess Franco films. They got cut because the actress was 16 at the time.

Like I said the BBFC derseves some praise but when is 12 more acceptable and 16 not?

But if you are saying that these things should not be depicted by 'normal' directors, you are endorsing censorship.

Normal directors- yeah, it's normally shot brutally, but the effect is psychological- and no real penetration occurs. Ask Jodie Foster. !wink!

With this porno pseudo-rape bullshit, real sex is being enacted to convey the point, and it is too much, goes too far, and sends out the wrong message.

I maintain, if it is shot correctly to portray the correct message, yes, it's 'art'. If 'rape' scenes are shot incorrectly, ie gung-ho cheap crass porn shite, it's f***ing dirty.
