When you occupy a country that doesn't want to be occupied, you get violence in return. We learned that in Ireland, Kenya, India, Palestine and now in Iraq.

The British created the IRA - no point moaning now. Let's just learn to stop invading other countries.

What I call the Tory Imperial Establishment contains within itself the seeds of its own destruction. NI is -very sadly- an excellent example of this.

I was under the assumption that NI have had the chance to be independent and if the majority indeed wanted to be, who are the British government to stop them? The reality is the majority want to stay part of the UK and as usual only a few spoil it for everyone else.

Since there are nearly as many Irish people living in England as there are living in the Republic of Ireland it seems most Irish will end up living under UK rule whether NI stays part of the UK or not!
