Oh, I dont know. I've lived here for about 30 years since moving down from oop north, and for all its faults, it is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. It was coming here that allowed me to be as successful in my field as I am, and given my kids the opportunities that living here have presented trhem with for good or bad. Short of a spread in the Yorkshire Dales, where else would I choose?

My own feelings towards SUVs are totally neutral: I don't own one, nor do I have any wish to own one.

True, some folk may see them as a status symbol and nothing more. But others (including urban dwellers) may have genuine reasons for owning one (large families, for example).

So yes, it's the politics of envy - at least to a degree: "If I can't have one, no-one else should either". That's what Socialism of the brand espoused by Red Ken is all about.
