But why stop at Mrs. T and The General? What about the multitude of others who have used or are at this moment using the machinery of the state to oppress folks ?weaker than them'? For instance, I'm sure there are many motorists in London cursing Red Ken and his oppressive anti-car regime. They can't take him on because they are weaker than him and the state that supports him in power. Isn't it true that malcontents within ANY given state would always consider themselves "oppressed"? Isn't this true of all states? Don't you think smokers and foxhunters might be feeling a little oppressed of late? Hey, maybe we should dismantle the apparatus of the state so that no one could use it to "oppress" anyone else? We could all do our own individual thing, go our own way, and no one could harness the power of the state to tell us what to do? Wouldn't that be cool?
By the way, why would Mrs. T and General Pinochet need to use the machinery of the state if the targets of their oppression were, as you suggest, "weaker than them"? Surely they wouldn't need any state help in this instance, as they would be able to lean on the weaker parties with confidence? I don't understand what you are saying or where you are going with the above post, Keith.
