All the recent media hype about global warming is shite and just a way for goverments to raise even more tax revenue from the masses, years ago people cut down trees and burnt them to survive and the world is still revolving.
Global Warming Is Crap
Re: Global Warming Is Crap
Glad i'm not the only one thinking this. Trouble is there will be just too many environ-mentalists doing the taxmans work for any alternate view to be heard.
Load of tree hugging hippy crap.

We have need of you again, great king.

dumb post, there are a few more people now than then.
then there was this little event called the industrial revolution, you might have heard of it
the only reason you want to bury your head in the sand is that you don't want to make any changes to your lifestyle
wake up, look around, do some research, global warming is happening

It pisses me off to think we are going to be taxed up to the hilt on it and the gas guzzling yanks will still be riding around filling up for pennies.....
Really pisses me off just to hear Gordon Brown voice nowdays..... (Our Tone's a hasbeen).
We have got to get this incompetent Government out....

?It pisses me off to think we are going to be taxed up to the hilt?
You talk as though it is inevitable and a done deal, like you are an inconsequential pawn whose view is less than irrelevant. But you do still have a voice; you do still have a vote (for now, at least). You can still tell them to bollocks. You (or anyone else) don?t have to vote for parties who propose this course.

"but there is a lot of of snobbery about travelling to work by public transport."
It's not just snobbery. Take the bus and you could be taking your life in your hands (as we've seen). There are some right skanky, chavy gits who take the bus, not to mention winos, psychos, and smelly bastards. Who wants to have to sit next to these low lives?

Re: Global Warming Is Crap
Lol!
That viewpoint is crap!
Here's some very very basic scientific facts for ya (google to confirm).
Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere traps heat, so more CO2 = warmer air.
Living things, rotting matter, volcanoes etc give off CO2. CO2 helps keep the Earth from spiralling into a permanent ice age.
Plants, bacteria and water vapour absorbs CO2 which keeps the constant CO2 emissions stable.
Coal and Oil are ancient forests.
Forests are made up of plant organisms.
Plant organisms contain CO2 (see above)
Burning plant organisms (like fossil fuels) releases CO2 millions of times faster than nature.
More C02 is in the atmosphere can't be adsorbed quickly enough by plants, bacteria & water vapour.
Destroying forests stops those plants from absorbing CO2 which only makes the problem even worse.
More hot air warms oceans.
Warm oceans melt ice caps.
Ice caps act as a reflector, reflecting sun rays back into space.
Less sun rays that are reflected into space means the planet absorbs the heat.
That extra absorbed heat is trapped in the atmosphere by the extra CO2 that we can't get rid of.
Planet becomes a pressure cooker because heat cannot escape.
It's so hot, deserts widen destroying more plant life.
You already know what destroying plantlife causes. (more CO2 remember?)
Hot air makes storms a lot more powerful.
Hurricanes don't die out so quickly, if at all due to it being constantly fed by warm air.
Hurricanes kill & flood.
Ancient weather patterns change. Maybe those humid winds of the gulf stream stop rain coming our way?
Less rain could mean Europe becoming another Sahara desert?
More heat = more insects anyway.
More insects spread more diseases.
I could go on forever...............
......but I won't................
Global warming is real.
Get educated on the matter.
Every scientist in the world -apart from the ones bribed by Oil companies- say it's real.
Scientists are usually clever people.
It's smart to listen to clever people (usually).
I said I wouldn't go on forever........
....so I'll stop........
.......now.

It may be real, Sam - BUT:
Politicians love to scare people with "landmark reports" like the (dramatic drum roll here) STERN REPORT so that they have an excuse to lecture us, nanny us, generally interfere in our lives, curtail liberties and impose more taxes.
Right now it's the twin spectres of climate change and home-grown Islamic extremism that they're trying to terrify us with. Recently we had bird flu (remember how that was all set to "sweep the globe" and "wipe out millions" just a few months ago?) and before that it was foot & mouth disease, Saddam's WMDs, SARS, AIDS (remember how in the mid '80s we had government "experts" telling us that "almost every family in the UK will have been hit by AIDS by 1990"), football hooliganism, the Trade Unions, the arms race, Ugandan Asians, the Red Menace ... go back through the years and the list is endless.
But collectively (as a population at large) we're just as bad - it's as if our lives are somehow not "complete" without having something to worry obsessively about and we lap up the scare stories eagerly.
As for the current "global warming" thing, once the politicians start to set an example by giving up their ministerial limos, free flights and other perks all paid for by the taxpayer, I might start to take them seriously when they pontificate about climate change and lecture us on how we should be leading our own lives.
Also, amid all the outcry over CO2 emissions in the industrial nations, precious little is being said about deforestation, which can have just as dramatic impact on weather patterns and ecosystems. Yet because it's far easier to slap a new tax on 'Chelsea tractors' or fine people 100 quid for putting a plastic bottle in a bin earmarked for glass only, we're being led to believe that's the main cause of the problem.

Amid all the hysteria about the contents of the "Stern Report", I wonder how many people actually realise that its author Sir Nick Stern isn't a climatologist at all but an economist - and one of Gordon Browne's key hatchet-men.
Our Gordon appointed him as a Second Permanent Secretary to the Treasury in 2003, before giving him the job of coming up with this report. Then - surprise, surprise - said report gets published containing all kinds of apocalyptic scenarios, and Ministers immediately start telling us that "we need to impose new taxes to combat the problem".
So by any standards, Sir Nick is hardly an unbiased, neutral party without an agenda.
