Terrorist plot busted

Post by strictlybroadband »

A major terrorist plot was busted last month in Belgium. I only just heard about it - I suppose the press here ignored it, because it was Nazis and not Muslims.

" A two-year operation by the Belgian police culminated in a massive raid on 20 private houses and the arrest of 15 men and two women. Two small trucks full of modern and heavy arms, bullet-proof jackets, large amounts of ammunition, detonators for landmines and a small bomb big enough to blow up a car were seized in the raids on 7 September.

Police also swooped on military barracks in Leopoldsburg, Kleine Brogel, Peer, Brussels and Zedelgem.

The suspects, nine of them soldiers, are members of Blood, Soil, Honour and Loyalty (BBET), a split-off from the nazi Blood and Honour Flanders organisation. They were allegedly planning terrorist attacks in Belgium in a bid to destabilise society.

A letter claiming responsibility for the planned bombings had already been drafted, according to sources at the Belgian Justice"

I recall there being another terrorist cell of a right wing nature in Belgium some years ago, called 'Gladio'. It had originally been set up as a secret NATO operation intended to operate behind the lines in case of an invasion by the Warsaw Pact. With hide outs, safe houses and arms caches, it was left on its own, went native as it were, and turned excessively to the right. Running short of money for its upkeep, its members went on a robbery spree, hitting Belgian supermarkets, not only taking the money but using extreme violence, often killing anyone in the shop at the time. This was part of their plan to destabilise Belgian society. It was eventually broken by the police, but was probably part of a wider fascist underground network.

Belgium is a very worrying place at the moment: the nazis just won 20% of the vote in the Flemish region.

You might have thought that being taken over by nazis once in living memory would have been enough.

Having spent some time in Northern Italy, I've found that many Europeans regret that Fascism ever went away.
