Right first question: are you using Firefox with Adblock enabled?

If not check your IE settings, XP SP2 came packed with some Ad Blocking capabilities (I think just pop-ups but you never know.....)

Then check Norton settings. If you have Anti-Spam this might be your problem:

In the main window, on the left side click Norton AntiSpam.

Click Ad Blocking, and then click Turn Off.

I did the same yesterday loading xp etc & couldn't see some of my bits, type in 'active x' in Google & download the latest version as it corrected my problem.
