So let's get this straight - serious crimes such as assault and mugging will be punished by on-the-spot fines of up to ?100 and yet look at pictures of consensual BDSM and you get 3 years in prison, put on the sex offenders register and get a destroyed life.

This is a rehash of the march young offenders to the cash point machine and take 50 quid of them on the spot, which the Reverend Blair ran up the flag pole a few years ago. Nobody saluted then as it was seen as simply a headline grabbing stunt. What happened to presumption of innocence until PROVED otherwise? Its a dangerous step to allow the police to be judge and jury, whatever the offence.

This is just NuLabor bullshit to massage the crime figures. They do not mind that it also corrupts the criminal justice system, turning the police into de facto judges. In fact, Toni Bliar is such a wanker that he probably has Judge Dredd fantasies, so that won't be a problem for him.
