Try Ewido, it,s probably the best out there at the moment, it,s free for 14 days, but then you have to purchase the full version, the ordinary version is still free, so you lose some of the features, but the basic version is still very effective, after having said that, if you know how to delete reg keys, you can gave the full version free forever, it,s very powerful and microsoft recommend it as thier retained virus trojan spyware programme..

Re: Anti-Virus Help!!!
I use AVG and Zone Alarm which update themselves every time I switch my PC on. Both free.
In addition I use the on-line free AV scans provided by Pandasoft and Trend Micro plus free copies of Spyware Doctor and Mailwasher given away on a disc on one of the computer mags.
Never spent money on any AV/anti-spyware/etc., software, but by being sensible and careful I've never had any problems either.

Re: Anti-Virus Help!!!
As already said, use the link Jacques posted, I use some programs to protect my computer (I also run them on my Network, which is completly safe & protected 24/7).
AVG Anti-Virus
Zone Alarm
Mailwasher, free on most Computer magazine Disks (try looking on Download.com for this, I don't know why you don't like [url=http://www.download.com/]Download.com[/url, but I get quite a few programs from there, regularly).
I do recommend these, as they are good solid programs, & you get regular updates, almost daily, for FREE.

Other free AVs are Avast & Anti-Vir; only run 1 at a time. The online scans are helpful too. Get Lavasoft's Ad-aware anti-spyware to run scans, & also Spybot or Spycatcher as an active anti-spyware.

Re: Anti-Virus Help!!!
Agree AVG free and Zone Alarm firewall are good.
Used Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy for years but apparently Spybot not as good as it used to be.
Spyware Blaster could be worth a look. Free version you have download updates manually.
Beware not all products are what they seem - Noadware for example is reported to be spyware!!
