guitars
i am thinking of buying a telecaster what are the big differences between the models, only a beginner so won't be spending a lot
Re: guitars
I have always found that my students progress far more rapidly if they begin on electric guitars. A very small amplifier with headphone socket will be entirely sufficient to begin with.
The best beginners' books for electric guitar are those by Yamaha.
Are you intending to purchase a genuine Fender, or a copy?

Re: guitars
yes probably a squier telecaster even a standard fender is about ?300
Re: guitars
Are you sure it's a Telecaster type you want?.
I only ask because a Strat is more comfortable to play.
A Squier is as good as any to start with. They come in "starter packages" with a suitable amp, lead, strap... for around ?180 - ?200.

I believe the headphones (see above) will more than take care of that !wink!
Re: guitars
Take some sage advice from yer uncle Liz, who knows a lot about guitars! splash out on a Tokia strat, fantastic to play and hold there value as well, even better get an older Tokia, you will pay a bit more but they are becoming very collectable, most squires are either Japanese korean or mexican, go for the mexican if you must, you wont get a tele for ?300 it will be made under licence in mexico or china, and the problem again is resale, no body wants to know.
I dont know your financial position, however if you can afford a genuine USA Telecaster go for it, they are great all round guitars and always hold their value..expect to pay around ?400 s/h and about ?550/?600 upwards for a new one, as far as amps go if you cant afford a marshall or a messa, get a new line 6 they have good o/drive and reverb built in and valves as well, also twin reverbs are chrap as chips at the moment, if your buying a USA tele from E-Bay, ask the seller for the registration number, you can check it out on the fender site and some other forums..
Now, I,m off for a cuppa!
