Nah! I don't think that's true. But we do have a LOT of alcohol related deaths do to drunk driving. Now if you want to call THAT murder, then I'm inclined to agree.

Keith,

My father , a sergeant major, was an alcoholic who suffered the Delirium Tremens in the army. He saw snakes crawling out of the eye sockets of skulls. This was the most paranoid trip that I have ever heard of. An absolute nightmare. Alcohol addicts spew up blood in the morning but has his first alcohol hit anyway after he is sick. A strong Tennant's for breakfast or half a bottle of whisky to "get straight."

If the casualties on the roads were deaths on the battle field there would be a public outcry. All cars travel at speeds that might be fatal to a pedestrian. Also cars have established right of way because of their velocity.

True. But it's one thing to hit somebody by accident. It's another to hit a pedestrian or another car while you're drunk and kill somebody. Now that's a problem.

Only one "z" in Uzi.

Before the Control of Drugs Act 1971 doctors could prescribe heroin, which meant addicts could get what they needed without resorting to crime.

Have things got better or worse in the last 35 years? Think about it. Just because a bunch of shit eating ponces in the Palace of Westminster pass a law, it does not make a problem go away, however much these pinheads think it does. To politicians, words are all that matter, and words mean exactly what they want them to mean. Am I the only one who feels the need to shower after hearing yet another NuLabor deadhead spouting the meaningless cliches which constitute the party line?

Technically still possible I agree, but any GP who goes there is in for a world of shit from the authorities, and they know it. Methadone is of course OK, because it's not called heroin. Go figure. Before 1971 heroin was just one of the many dangerous drugs which GP's could prescribe for their patients as they saw fit in their clinical judgment. Can't have that can we? Still, the 1971 Act has done very well, it certainly seems to have nipped the problem of heroin abuse in the bud...
