I'm guessing that more people want to watch the WC matches than those that don't. This makes football 'mainstream' during the tournement, and thus, should be on a 'mainstream' channel.
Putting football on an interactive channel will take out a large group of people who still haven't got digital tv. Maybe in the future it may happen, but not this WC, or the next Euro's.
It's also well known that sporting events people watch on tv, does get people out playing the viewed sport. I'd much rather any kids I have in the future, watch a brazilian free kick, than a 14 year old get pregnant on Coronation St, or another fuckin arguement at the Queen Vic!
