Gazza wasted his career away with the booze and kebabs. He could have been one of the greatest ever. Unbelieavble potential. Potential-wise, Rooney is the same. It's early days as he's only 20, so we'll see.

Yeah I agree. Even with his lifestyle & injuries, he still lit up the 1990 World Cup & 1996 European Championships. We'll never know the limit to his potential.

As for Rooney, he's still only young and due to players being more educated these days, I can't see him going off the rails (not while Sir Alex Fergusons around!).

I don't think we'll ever know..

Have you watched Rooney play this year? He's calmed down a hell of a lot. I don't think you can judge someones temperment looking at their 18th & 19th years on the planet.

I'm sure most people will agree that they're not the same person they were when they were in their teens. The lads just growing up, nothing to be alarmed about. Roy Keane's temperment never stopped him becoming a great player.

This is true. Gazza had a lot of mental health problems too. These played a major role in his downfall.

True, true, age doesn't give him an excuse, I'm just saying he's calmed down great this last season. Been a 'good lad' compared to a lot of players whom are a lot older!

You need a bit of fire in your belly I think, and Rooney's getting the balance just right lately. Lets hope he plays! *crosses fingers* !thumbsup!
