No marty I havn't met him. Should that stop me expressing an opinion on him?
I never met Hitler either or Thatcher.
If your reasons for admiring people is because they've made a lot of money I guess you also admire a lot more wankers too.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson - Good Bloke.
Fair enough if people hate JC, they are legitimately entitled to their views.
However, on reading some of the responses in this thread, some of my notions on UK culture in general have been confirmed:
We hate successful people and are a negative and jealous lot. Endeavour and acumen are frowned upon as it heightens our innate inferiority complex. It starts in primary school- nobody likes the bright spark who volunteers answers. The bright spark soon realises this and becomes self-conditioned to shut up and suppress their talent.
This view does not apply to myself, and I endorse get-up-and-go and positive never-say-die attitude. The above is an analogy, and ideas, creativity and endeavour should be encouraged, not bitched at, sniped upon and moaned about. We'd be a better nation promoting encouragement and being a bit more fearless in our lives.
disclaimer: IMHO.
