Sorry mate,
I was a bit pissed off that day- so I vented my spleen here!! Judging by my previous posts, it would be hard to get an angry response from me.
Needless to say, my disposition is back to it's sunny self........
Nothing personal, no hard feelings- I'm sure you'll cope! !wink!

OkayFudge,
Did you know that Christian Fundamentalists are conducting a big campaign here to convert children to a literal belief in the Old Testament? Do you believe that the Earth was made in seven days!

hi.
i sort of agree with fudgy.
its all about making educated decisions. if u dont get religious education at school how can u make an informed and impartial decision.
im pretty sure the government makes sure that now the education system offers a "good and unbiased" R.E.
i guess it differes in religious background schools tho.
i know now that they offer alot more on muslin and islamic religion from when i was at school.
but my R.E. was good. gave an unbiased and informative look on the world.
i certainly wouldnt try and protect my children from there basic right of R.E.
My family are athiest and sent me to a C of E school so i could make up my own mind. i was even encouraged to join the brownies and go to sunday school. i came out agnostic.
remeber, what knowledge do u have and what knowledge are u willing to deprave others of?. its all about education.

Hi Sandie,
Religious education in faith schools is indoctrinaion and should not be allowed until adulthood. It is my opinion that this cycle should be broken. Can you tell me one "holy" book that was written by a women?
Religion is the patriarch's absolute power over women.
Hope that you are well.
Mike.

Sandie,
Why should any mortal man presume to know the form and nature of God?
If a psychiatrist had a patient who said that God spoke to him and told him to do violent acts then he would be classifeid as paranoid schizophrenic!
I am not an atheist but a person who believes in a purpose to life. Where we come from, why are we here, where are we going to?Is a question that is beyond human comprehension.

Fundamentalists.............
As you know, they are not normal practitioners of religion. Rather, remove the '-fun' and you more or less get a mentalist. So, to base your argument on the intentions of a bunch of nutters renders it null and void.
So, teaching kids to literally imbibe the Old Testament?? Tricky, seeing as the Old Testament an overview of Jewish history. They won't get on much better with the New, as that is a virtual summarisation of Jewish politics: Kids, who have Thomas the Tank Engine as their God, Bob the builder as their personal Jesus and Barbie as their Virgin Mary will just love that!
Do I think the Earth made in seven days, you cheeky chappy?
No, five.
In scientific terms though, from a quantum physics view of sub-atomic matter combining to form the first atom which would incur the chain reaction that brought about our lovely planet of the present, Earth was maybe made in 6.9835642 picoseconds.
Get that in your Briar pipe and smoke it. !wink!

Re: Protect children from religion?
It seems that schools are allowing muslim girls to wear religious clothes that hide their bodies, then in the same breath talking about "freedom of expression". To be fair the authorities should allow every other pupil to wear what they like to school. What do you think?!bow!

Re: Protect children from religion?
Within reason children should be allowed to wear what they wish to school. Some schools seem to forget that their primary purpose is to educate, not to dicatate what their pupils choose to wear.
