Was wondering if any boffins out there could help. I've edited a 90 min film on Adobe Premiere Pro and want to export it to Adobe Encore for authoring.
So I know i need to export as an Adobe media file and then to choose MPG2 DVD, but when you choose this you then have another pile of options like "PAL 7mg progressive high quality blah blah etc etc"
Can anyone tell me the correct one to choose? I've never done this before and I haven't even started on Adobe Encore, which alone is enough to drive you fucking crazy!! For example it shows you how to create buttons and put chapters on each button, but what about if you want to "Play Movie" ie all the chapters in sequence, instructions don't mention this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: DVD Authoring question
Export from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD.
Import as Asset and change the Transcode Settings to Don't Transcode.
Good look with Encore - its good but will send you insane. Get hold of Wes Howell's book, saved my sanity more than once.....

Re: DVD Authoring question
The bit I'm confused about is once you select MPG2 DVD in Premiere Pro, it then gives you a range of further options, ie the list of settings, various options in NTSC,PAL, etc etc, I'm not sure which one to choose.
This is long before I've even opened Encore!

Re: DVD Authoring question
Oh Jim the joys of Adobe and you'll recall my comments in another post.
Now then adobe likes to make the edz life complicated but once you have used it a few times final application becomes more understandable so have a good play.
Working from where you are you need to choose Mpeg2 and then the high blah blah Pal option after which import the saved file to Encore.
You can also choose Video compatible DVD file which will allow Adobe to work in mpeg4 but then the fun begins with Encore. If encore is a little heavy you can choose the autoplay option so the disc plays on insertion and you don't have to play with chapters, targets and RTM's.
If you need anymore help mail me and I'll drop you my number but such is the joy of being an ADOBE user

Re: DVD Authoring question
Bill I haven't seen you other posts about similar topics but could I ask what software you use for this yourself?
I ask as I am going to be buying some similar type of software and would welcome some advice.

Sorry Jim misunderstood earlier, anyway use the MPEG2 Encoder.

Re: DVD Authoring question
Bill is a Pinacle man, but also look at Adobe and Sony Vegas.
I tried Pinacle as Adobe is very frustrating. But I went back to Adobe (just a personal preference - no offence Bill). I haven't used Vegas enough to compare but it does seem to be a good package.

Re: DVD Authoring question
Well for me it has to be Pinnacle Edition
For the money you will struggle to get better software. If you want to get some real pro results tweek your PC and get it over to a 64bit CPU with a nice sized 256 or even 512 GPU and give it plenty of DDR to expand, 3 gig would be great. I know Windows only uses 32bit but if you switch to 64 it's never gona breath heavy.
Even better build a solo PC with a custom install of XP pro SP2 with CD/DVD ROM support but with network disabled and no other programes other than XP and Edition. Then in MSCONFIG disable all start up programmes and you'll have a nice naked version of XP ready for video. Remember the answer to creating great movies is allowing the software to do as it needs un ristricted by firewalls and anti virus progs running in the background.

I must ask Pinnacle about commision
