Roman Polanski

Post by Ace »

Nasty little cunt who sues left, right and centre over articles about him, usually throwing in the Sharon Tate episode for 'sympathy'
Most forget hes a fugitive from the US since 1977 for statuory rape of an underaged teen. I think its a disgrace he was able to give evidence via a video link as if he'd come to Britain, he'd risk being extridated to the US to face charges filed since 1977. We should have told him to sue the magazine in France and not take up our legal system to sue when living abroad
Mind you, he has made some GREAT films, especially The Pianist a few years back and Ninth Gate which is the ONLY film that shit me up. Not to mention an all time favourite of mine; Chinatown

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt

Worth reading the book Helter Skelter about the Manson killings, for the chapter on Polanski and his lie detector test if nothing else.

Chinatown is a masterpiece of cinema. But its director will always seem sleazy to me.

The conversation between Polanski and Lieutenant Deemer, immediately prior to the polygraph examination proper, has often left readers with an uncomfortable feeling.

However if one takes into account the horrors of his childhood and the novel air of sexual freedom prevalent at that time, his side of the conversation becomes somewhat less disturbing.

One might also wish add to that the excellent maxim 'Ordinary morality is for ordinary people'.

'Ordinary morality is for ordinary people'.

Sounds like a green light for any behaviour you want. Do anything you want, to anyone you want, without care for the consequences---so long as your ego is enormous enough.

That shouldn't apply, whether you're Polanski, Mugabe or bin Laden.

Let us not confuse morality with ethics.

(a particularly important distinction, given the main topic of this site).

I'm sure it's a distinction that keeps many a megalomaniac awake at night.
