Can I Buy R18's off the Net?

Hi, please forgive my ignorance but i have read a few a view threads on here talking about R18 DVD's.

Is it going to be illegal soon or is it already to buy them through mail order on the net. Only asking as there's a few i would like to purcahse but i just want to know what the score is.

I may have the wrong end of the stick but its just interested me over the last few days what these threads are about

As a punter you can legally buy porn (both R18 and uncertified) over the net or via mail order with no worries of being prosecuted.

The only caveat is that if you buy uncertified (typically, but not always, from the US or Europe) then it must not be deemed to be obscene under the BBFC guidelines which generally means it doesnt exceed whats available in R18 today. In most cases this seems to be the basis on which customs judge titles to be acceptable or not.

If you do buy what would be deemed obscene (but I emphasise that obscene and illegal are VERY different things - pissing is deemed obscene but that does NOT make it illegal in the same sense as child porn etc) then there is a small chance that the title(s) may be seized by customs but unless its very extreme (i.e. illegal) stuff then you shouldnt get anything worse than a letter from customs telling you it has been seized.

I didnt read through all of that MacD BUT I believe that the paper is to do with the SUPPLY (i.e. people like me) rather than the buying of R18 (as the OP was asking) - he is not commiting any offence by buying an R18 DVD off my site but I am by selling to him.

You are correct - hopefully someday the government will see sense (but I doubt it) and all this mess of who can buy/sell what, where and how will be resolved. Then, hopefully, we can enjoy the freedom that our European neighbours have.

Right, so it's ok for me to buy off the R18 site where you sell your goods, just not buy off you personally?

Doesnt make any difference if you buy them from me personally (at a car boot for example), online, mail order or in a sex shop - YOU are not commiting a crime in any of the above scenarios!
