F.A Cup final day 1979, while a lot of the nation enjoyed an epic final (3-2 to the gooners) i had the greater pleasure of being in Harpole, Northampton performing on the John Peel roadshow where the great man and i chatted in depth and he bought me a drink.

"Teenage dreams are hard to beat". His fave line from his fave song. My latter teenage years were brilliant and John Peel helped make a teenage dream of mine come true.

Respect.

Farewell, Emperor. Only the good die young. I see your team won.

Saturday's footy matches???

Post by SID THE CYNIC »

...... so are we going to see black armbands and have a mins silence at grounds on saturday???

I suspect not. Thankfully.

Would have been a shame to have made this untimely death as tacky as recently reported incidents.

Perhaps best remembered this way:

Usually I despise lists, but as the merest slice of a very large pie, this is hard to fault.

Ipswich, where John and his wife were season ticket holders, are playing Teenage Kicks, before Saturday's game against Preston.
