I can't believe it's been rhat long.
1985!!!
Seriously, time has flown on this one.
My TV DVD list contains the following classics, Robin of Sherwood (complete) and Dick Turpin, Richard O'Sullivan back from the late 70's.
Don't make 'em like they used to.
Almost forgot...V.

Well worth the investment. Brilliant writing, superb storyline, acting of the highest quality, and Joanne Whalley. What more could anyone ask for?

talking of mr. hood - i picked up errol flynn's 1938 boy's own epic the other day for ?7.99 in the current hmv sale - cheaper than anywhere on the net, afaict.
the restored image is fantastic (there's something about technicolor color...) and the package itself contains some superb extras - not often the case with vintage releases.
pure pleasure.

I'll have to check that one out.
I love the old colour ones.
For a short while, the colours were almost blindingly vibrant.
For realism and believeability, I'd recommend Robin of Sherwood.
Definately one of the best incarnations ever.
RoS was the programme that filled the gap when Dick Turpin ran it's course.
Both made by Goldcrest who went bankrupt after producing such turkeys as Who Dares Wins.
If you're after quality DVD's for a cheap price, there's a store on Oxford St.
It's between Tottenham Court Rd station & Oxford Circus station on the right from the TCR side.
Just past Virgin & the Sony store.
Good releases cheap.

Give it up after Michael Praed, though. Jason Connery is utter pants.
The Adventures Of Robin Hood is great, reuniting the same people that did Captain Blood (Flynn, de Haviland, Rathbone, Curtiz), andmaking the perfect swashbuckler. And the version Woody's got has been cleaned up---certainly doesn't look its age.

Thanks guys for the reminder about Edge of Darkness. I don't think I saw the whole lot but that will be rectified tomorrow. I've just checked on Wellington Libraries computer system and they have it on VHS and DVD.

be interested to hear what you make of it. things have changed since '85 - the demise of the cold war theatre, etc - but i think you'll find many of it's themes still resonate strongly with our current predicament.

If you want to make your TV shows collection complete, add The Prisoner to I Claudius and Edge Of Darkness. One of the few shows from the 1960s that still seems relevant today.
