The 'dirty old man' was a regular long term holiday maker in Hong Kong when I lived there in the 70's, he was regularly pissed on gin and sounded NOTHING like 'Albert Steptoe'

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Ali G (and this was long after the joke had ceased to amuse).

Perhaps we should be grateful for the Fawlty Towers film that never happened. Cleese toyed with the idea, but considering each episode took four months to write he might still be working on it now.

BTW - Cleese: what's he done since Clockwise? A Fish Called Wanda doesn't count because it was so mystifyingly shit. Wasted talent, no?

.....with Rising Damp and Are You Being Served?
although I did like the 2 Dr Who films.

Another 2 piss-poor offerings were 'On The Buses' or 'Bless This House', although BOTH TV series were bollocks!!

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Oh shit Ace, your 5 seconds of being a mod. on this forum seem over as you have to be corrected by ... erm shit, an erm mod., well done Woodgnome for spotting that loophole, seems Ace will need to settle for a ?blue peter? badge on this occasion for effort.
What about on the buses?? Seems sad to see that the majority of these gems were all shot in the 70?s and 80?s though all pre-sky television yank shit, sad that.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

With that little imperfection in mind how about appointing him as understudy to the Janitor?

He's obviously blown his chance at becoming Head Milk Monitor
